چکیده

Objective To explore the protective effects of trimetazidine on vascular endothelial cells injury induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and its pharmacological mechanisms of anti-oxidation. Methods Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were injured by H2O2. Next, the cells were treated with three different concentrations of trimetazidine (1μmol/L,10μmol/L,100μmol/L, respectively). The viability of cells was detected by methyl thiazoeyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay. In addition, malondialdehyde (MDA) contents, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and secretion of NO were measured. Results Trimetazidine could enhance the viability of the injured HUVECs induced by oxidation, decrease the level of MDA, enhance the SOD activity, and increase the secretion of nitrogen monoxide. These effects were in a certain dose-dependent manner and the difference was significant among the three concentrations (P<0.05). Conclusions Our results suggest that trimetazidine may protect lipid peroxidation and prevent oxidation-induced cellular dysfunction of HUVECs (J Geriatr Cardiol 2008; 5:248-251)

Effects of alpha-mangostin on memory senescence induced by high glucose in human umbilical vein endothelial cells

Objective(s): Hyperglycemia induces cellular senescence in various body cells, such as vascular endothelial cells. Since the vessels are highly distributed in the body and nourish all tissues, vascular damages cause diabetes complications such as kidney failure and visual impairment. Alpha-mangostin is a xanthone found in mangosteen fruit with protective effects in met...

Involvement of TRPM7 calcium channels and PI3K/AKT kinase pathway in protective effect of vascular endothelial growth factor in amyloid beta-induced model of Alzheimer’s disease

Background and Objective: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder, in which cortical and hippocampus neurons death is the main target of neurodegeneration. In addition to extracellular beta amyloid accumulation and the production of neural tangles, one of effective factors in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease is vascular injury in the elderly including disturbanc...

Trimetazidine protects against cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury via effects on cardiac miRNA-21 expression, Akt and the Bcl-2/Bax pathway

Trimetazidine is a piperazine-derived metabolic agent, which exerts cell protective effects and has been reported to be efficient in the treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris. In addition, it has been shown to exert protection against acute myocardial infarction. The present study aimed to investigate whether trimetazidine protects against cardiac ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, and to...
